Welcome to BuildHope. By accessing or using our website and services, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use our platform.
1. Overview
BuildHope is an online fundraising platform that allows individuals and organizations to raise funds for personal, community, and charitable causes. We provide tools to help hosts share their story, collect donations, and engage supporters globally.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old—or the age of majority in your jurisdiction—to create a campaign or make a donation on BuildHope. By using our platform, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. Campaign Guidelines
All campaigns must be honest, accurate, and lawful. By creating a campaign on BuildHope, you agree:
To provide truthful and transparent information about your cause.
Not to use funds for any illegal activity, personal enrichment unrelated to your stated campaign, or misleading claims.
That you are solely responsible for how the funds are used.
That BuildHope may remove, suspend, or request additional verification for any campaign at its discretion.
BuildHope does not guarantee campaign performance or fundraising results.
4. Fees and Deductions
BuildHope charges:
A 1% platform transaction fee on all donations.
Optional tips from donors, which support the platform’s operations.
For campaigns that choose paid promotion, up to 30% of total funds raised may be allocated toward agreed-upon marketing and outreach strategies, confirmed directly with the campaign host in writing.
Payment processing fees (charged by third-party processors) may also apply.
Subscription Charges: If you opt in for monthly recurring donations or other subscription services, subscription charges may apply. You can cancel recurring charges at any time by contacting help@buildhopefund.org.
5. Donor Protection & Refunds
Donations are generally non-refundable unless they fall under our BuildHope Giving Guarantee. In the event of suspected fraud or misuse, donors may submit a claim for investigation. BuildHope will review all claims and issue refunds when appropriate, typically within 3–10 business days.
6. Account Responsibility
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your BuildHope account. Do not share your login credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
7. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
Use BuildHope for illegal or deceptive purposes
Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
Interfere with the operation of the platform
Collect or misuse the personal information of other users
Violation of these terms may result in suspension or permanent removal from the platform.
8. Content Ownership
Campaign creators retain ownership of the content they submit. However, by posting on BuildHope, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and promote your campaign materials for marketing, fundraising, and platform improvement purposes.
9. Termination
BuildHope reserves the right to terminate or suspend any account or campaign at our sole discretion, with or without cause, and without liability.
10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
BuildHope is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, success of any campaign, or donation amounts. BuildHope is not liable for damages arising from use or inability to use our services.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of BuildHope after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Donations and Refund Policy
All donations made to BuildHope are final and non-refundable. By completing a donation, you acknowledge that you will not be entitled to a refund, return, or credit, regardless of the reason. This policy applies to one-time donations, recurring contributions, sponsorships, and any other charitable gifts.
